The country plans significant investments for the development of green hydrogen projects.
Argentina moves forward in its energy transition with EU support

Within the framework of the Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen Dialogueorganized by the Delegation of the European Union in Argentina, the Environmental Policy Circle and the Center for Energy Regulatory Activity Studies (CEARE), the European Union (EU) unveiled an ambitious investment plan for the advancement of green hydrogen in Argentina, with the aim of replicating the success achieved in Chile. The EU Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, and the Argentine Secretary of Energy, Eduardo Chirillo, made the announcement.
This investment is part of a broader $45 billion program for Latin America and the Caribbean, which includes a specific $4 million collaboration to support the development of renewable hydrogen in Argentina.
Thus, Argentina, with its abundant renewable resources such as the sun and wind, noted the authorities, will become a key center for the production of green hydrogen. Wind energy from Patagonia will be fundamental to this project, generating clean electricity that will be used to obtain hydrogen through the electrolysis process. This hydrogen, in turn, will serve as a raw material for various applications in the energy sector and the chemical industry.
Simson stressed that green hydrogen production not only has the potential to create quality jobs, but also to boost exports with a great economic impact for the country. The emerging industry is aligned with the global energy transition and positions Argentina as a leader in this innovative sector.
For his part, Secretary Chirillo proposed a bilateral roadmap to facilitate cooperation and develop an energy export model in Argentina, thus consolidating the commitment to move towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient economy.
