Green hydrogen plant presented at Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum

Within the framework of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), which brings together the 21 member economies in Peru, the National University of Engineering (UNI) presented to the international delegates its respective advances in the hydrogen sector produced from renewable sources and in the area of electromobility. Thus, the plant developed by the university, which consists of an electrolyzer and solar panels to generate the necessary energy, was presented.
In addition, a hydrogen generator designed at the university was exhibited, which demonstrates practical domestic and industrial applications, such as its use in kitchens, in line with the country’s decarbonization efforts.
The rector of UNI, Alfonso Lopez-Chau Nava, led the technical visit and announced that the institution is advancing in the area of research on green hydrogen, projecting a possible alliance with the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (Minem) to carry out specialized doctorates in the sector.
During the event, the Lima Declaration was also signed by the 21 APEC member economies. The document promotes political guidelines for a fair and sustainable energy transition. This consensus highlights the countries’ commitment to international cooperation and the search for collaboration mechanisms for the development of clean technologies.
