H2Uppp extends call for proposals to support green hydrogen and its derivatives initiatives in Latin America

The International Green Hydrogen Promotion Program (H2Uppp) of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK) is implemented by the Energy Cluster of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, (GIZ GmbH Southern Cone), and is looking for innovative projects that promote the development of hydrogen markets in selected Latin American countries.
In this context, the program has extended its call for proposals until March 14, inviting project developers in the region, especially those in the early stages of development, to submit their proposals for green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) initiatives.
The International Hydrogen Promotion Program (H2Uppp) of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) promotes projects and the development of the green hydrogen market in selected developing and emerging countries as part of the National Hydrogen Strategy.
Available partnership modalities:
Cooperation agreement:
- Companies and GIZ agree on concrete measures, jointly financing and implementing them.
- The public contribution can reach up to 2 million euros, without direct transfers of funds to the companies.
Service contract:
- GIZ provides up to 200,000 euros for measures implemented by the company.
- Companies receive financial compensation for previously agreed services.
In both modalities, companies (or consortia) must cover at least 50% of the project costs. Initiatives may be extended for up to two years within the framework of the H2Uppp program.
