Chile: Copec will implement the first hydroline station for high tonnage trucks in the country

The charging station will supply heavy vehicles with a range of up to 750 kilometers.

Copec, a subsidiary of Empresas Copec, announced its incorporation into the HidroHaul program, an initiative focused on decarbonizing the logistics sector through the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technologies. The initiative is made up of IEE Ingeniería, Mining3, Marval and Walmart Chile. As part of this effort, Copec will lead the construction of the first green hydrogen refueling station for high tonnage trucks in Chile.

The hydroline station will be the first of its kind in the country and the third high-pressure station in South America. Located in Walmart’s distribution center , in the city of Santiago, will allow recharging heavy vehicles with a range of up to 750 kilometers, optimizing charging times and offering an innovative solution for long-distance transportation.

This pilot project, which is part of the Green Hydrogen Technology Program (PTEC) co-financed by the Chilean Economic Development Agency (Corfo), seeks to collect key data for the development of future stations and to strengthen the sustainable mobility infrastructure in the transportation sector. In addition, it aims to optimize refueling times, ensuring safe operation.
