Ameropa and CIP sign letter of intent to supply green ammonia for HNH Energy project in Chile

The agreement defines a 10-year supply commitment in line with agribusiness decarbonization efforts.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund I, and Ameropa, a Swiss agribusiness company, announced the signing of a letter of intent (LOI) for the supply of green ammonia produced by the HNH Energy project in Chile. This agreement represents a key step towards the decarbonization of the chemical industry and the development of a more sustainable economy.

The agreement establishes a supply commitment for a 10-year period, with an annual volume of up to 350,000 tons of ammonia produced from renewable energy sources. In addition, the agreement contemplates a competitive and stable pricing mechanism based on international market rates.

Green ammonia emerges as a key alternative in the energy transition to conventional ammonia, as it has the potential to reduce emissions in sectors that are difficult to decarbonize, such as fertilizer production, shipping and the steel industry. Its implementation in agribusiness will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of agricultural production, promoting innovative and more sustainable practices.
