Brazil: Port of Açu and Yamna agree to reserve land for the development of a green ammonia plant

The Port of Açu (Port of Açu Operações) together with YamnaCo Ltd (“Yamna”) signed a land reservation agreement for the new low-emission hydrogen and derivatives center located in the port industrial complex in the northeast of the state of Rio de Janeiro. This initiative marks Yamna’s first project in Brazil, projecting a production capacity of up to one million tons per year. The final investment decision is expected to be reached in 2027, producing the first green molecules in 2030.
The Port of Açu has earmarked two million square meters for the development of green hydrogen projects, which are in addition to the one million square meters already tendered at the port. It should be recalled that the port is one of the main oil and gas export facilities in Brazil, participating in the mining and port logistics sector. Today, it is advancing in its energy transition by developing an integrated platform for a low-emission economy.
Yamna, a platform specializing in green hydrogen and its derivatives, aims to produce green molecules on a large scale to replace fossil fuel-based solutions.
