H2 Peru and Netherlands sign Memorandum of Understanding to boost renewable hydrogen development in Peru

The Peruvian Hydrogen Association (H2 Peru) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a milestone in bilateral cooperation to promote renewable hydrogen in Peru. This agreement strengthens the ties between both parties, establishing a strategic framework to position hydrogen as a key energy vector in the transition to a sustainable and decarbonized economy.
The MoU aims to foster a favorable environment for the development and implementation of renewable hydrogen in Peru, as well as its export to the Netherlands and Europe. Among the main objectives are:
- Knowledge and regulatory exchange: Sharing best practices and regulatory trends to strengthen the hydrogen regulatory framework.
- Technological innovation: Promote technological development through international success stories.
- Multisectoral articulation: Create spaces for dialogue between public, private and academic sectors.
- Commercial strengthening: Promoting collaboration along the entire hydrogen value chain, from production to storage, transportation and use.
The signing of this agreement reinforces the commitment of both companies to the global energy transition, highlighting the key role of renewable hydrogen in sustainable industrial development and commercial opportunities in the region.
Daniel Cámac, President of H2 Peru stated, “The signing of this MoU with the Netherlands marks a key step in positioning green hydrogen as a strategic pillar in Peru’s energy transition. This agreement not only strengthens our international cooperation, but also lays the foundation for sustainable development that integrates innovation, trade and opportunities for our country. .”
Alexander Kofman, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands complemented, “We are very pleased to announce that we will be able to offer our services in the coming months.The Netherlands believes that Peru has all the potential to become a major hydrogen producer. The Netherlands is developing the entire infrastructure to import this hydrogen to supply the future demand from northwest Europe and offers Peru a broad portfolio of technologies covering the entire hydrogen value chain. With the signing of this MoU, the Netherlands hopes to continue the existing technical collaboration and exchange of experiences with H2 Peru to further contribute to the development of renewable hydrogen in Peru. .”
