The SENAI Institute for Innovation in Renewable Energy drives the energy transition through its laboratories specialized in solar energy, wind energy and sustainable hydrogen.
The green hydrogen boom: Brief production, environmental, strategic and safety issues

The network of SENAI Innovation Institutes currently includes more than 25 institutions, with the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Renewable Energies (ISI-ER) standing out for its specialization in solar energy, wind energy and sustainability in chemical processes.
The Solar Energy Laboratory (LES/ISI-ER) has advanced infrastructure for Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) activities in areas such as solar resource mapping, photovoltaic modules and inverters. In addition, LES offers specialized services in energy production evaluation and analysis, solar radiation data processing, fault analysis, among others.
The Wind Energy Laboratory (LEO/ISI-ER) has facilities to carry out ID&I projects focused on the measurement and evaluation of wind resources, both onshore and offshore. It also offers data analysis, wind resource generation and wind turbine performance testing at different scales, following international standards to measure power curves, mechanical loads, power quality and acoustic noise levels.
The Sustainability Laboratory (LS/ISI-ER) is equipped to conduct research in low-carbon hydrogen, production of sustainable fuels, capture and utilization of CO₂ through unconventional thermochemical processes, use of microreactors in the chemical industry, and development of catalysts for chemical processes.
This diversity of capabilities reinforces ISI-ER’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development in the energy sector.
Principal Investigators: Juan Ruiz (LS/ISI-ER), Fabíola de Carvalho (LS/ISI-ER), Marcílio Bayer (LS/ISI-ER), Samira Emiliavaca (LES/ISI-ER).
